Well it all went as expected: The Mix, already winners of the women’s league and the Stags collecting the trophy for the men’s… except it wasn’t quite like that! Spared the usual high energy Mix v Barbarian match-up this weekend, the two top teams on the women’s side might have cruised on Sunday, but instead they produced consumate displays that showed us just why they have done so well. In their three final games both teams conceded just 3 runs apiece while driving in 35 and 30 runs respectively. In opposition even the Angels, a respectable outfit who ‘know how to play’ and with plenty of runners on base struggled to convert any into runs. It was a tough day out for the other three teams but there are plenty of positives to take away from this season. This is a great league for that

On the men’s side, the Stags won it by the skin of their teeth. A tough 5-4 win over the Meteors sealed it, but then in the final game of the season, they went down themselves: 7-8 to the GBu23’s and this last minute win elevated the u23’s to the second spot. Perennial winners Meteors might be licking their wounds a little at finishing third but a look at their stats shows they convincingly out batted every other team in the league and conceded fewer runs. You would think that would be enough and It speaks volumes about the desire of the Stags and u23’s to scrap it out in key games, both with the Meteors and against each other that they ended above them. With 5 decent teams including rapidly improving GBu18 and Strays squads we will look forward to seeing what happens next season.
